This painting is a fairly accurate representation of an actual sea scape that I captured whilst on the island of St. Vincent. So the story goes that a patriarch of one of the island’s founding families was buried standing up in that cross atop the hill so that he might keep an eye on his estate even after his passing as he had a window constructed into the cross where his face would eventually be, and this to me, stood out as the perfect example of one’s avarice and errant attachments run amuck as such impudent ways stand so diametrically opposed to what is a clearly intangible truth.
