This piece too expresses that Renaissance notion of spiritual perfection being synonymous with the circle and corporeal perfection with the square much like the painting Lady and the Rock does, and as you can clearly see their compositions are very similar, a fact that I hadn’t even realized my own self until just now; the sculpture came first and the painting, yep you guessed it, came second.
